Commemorating history with the Queensway Tunnel

In 1971, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II opened the Great Charles Street Queensway tunnel, in Birmingham, which allowed vehicles to navigate around the city centre more effectively. Although the country is currently mourning, it is always lovely to reminisce of the late Queen Elizabeth II enjoying the streets of Birmingham and knowing years later we took part in providing a selection of our fire rated switchgear and die-cast aluminium enclosed isolators to be installed in the tunnel. As a proud British manufacturing company, we are always honoured when asked to supply products for a wide range of environments and participating in the advancement of our country.

Our latest range of F400 Fire Rated Switchgear offers an IP65 hinged door sheet steel enclosure coated in a protective Traffic Red (RAL3020) powder coat finish. Each unit is supplied with a highly durable yellow and red metal handle, which allows for the insertion of up to three padlocks in the ‘Off’ position thus preventing the isolator being switched to the ‘On’ position. The interior switches are constructed from a high temperature grade thermoset material, designed specifically for installations where the supply must be maintained for 2 hours at 400°C.

We also supplied a selection of our range of Die-Cast Aluminium enclosed isolators, as they offer protection from moisture and dust/dirt and are resistance to certain impacts. Like our fire rated range, each unit is supplied in IP65 enclosure and have a safety handle which allows for the insertion of up to three padlocks in the ‘Off’ position, thus preventing the isolator being switched to the ‘On’ position.
