Very sadly we lost a popular and long serving member of the Craig & Derricott team on Monday. Mukhtar Dhanjal Singh passed away on Monday after contracting COVID-19, Mukhtar was very popular and had been a loyal staff member here for over ten years. Our deepest and most sincere condolences to his family.
This loss is a sad reminder that the COVID-19 crisis is very real, and everyone is at risk. We have therefore reviewed the situation and we are determined to reduce the risk for all our C&D team mates. We have now finished recent “essential” work for the ExCel/Nightingale Hospital and can no longer justify asking our colleagues to continue travelling to work.
We have therefore taken the difficult decision to stop all production at Craig & Derricott as from Friday of this week (3rd April). The safety and well-being of all our colleagues and their families is paramount and this action will reduce the risk of infection.
Although we will not be manufacturing, we will have staff (mostly working from home), manning the phones and responding to urgent emails. Please note during this time our phones will be answered 9 – 5 Monday to Thursday and 9 – 1 on a Friday. At other times, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We all hope this crisis will pass quickly and we can all get back to normal. We will of course stay in touch with all our customers and stakeholders. We anticipate and hope this will only be a three-week shutdown (until Monday 27th April) but this clearly depends on the COVID-19 crisis diminishing in the UK.
Meanwhile, please follow the published guidelines and ensure you, your colleagues and your family stay safe.
Warm regards & stay safe!
