Craig & Derricott are very happy to welcome Alistair Stevens as our new Technical Director!
Alistair’s journey began in 1999 when he embarked on a five-year modern apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and maintenance with Eaton (Cooper Bussmann). During this period, he honed his skills as a maintenance engineer, advanced machinist, and machine builder, before venturing into the realm of tool design and manufacturing, specifically in press tooling. However, his desire for new challenges led him to join the research and development team as a lab technician, marking a pivotal transition. Over time, Alistair continued to expand his expertise. He underwent training as a draftsman and design engineer, equipping himself with the skills needed for world-spanning endeavours. His role soon evolved into one that allowed him to travel globally, designing, project managing, and implementing manufacturing lines for fuse gear products. This exposure not only broadened his horizons but also enriched his professional repertoire.
In 2013, following his marriage and the desire for a more settled life, Alistair undertook yet another turn in his career. He re-trained as an electrical engineer becoming a senior design engineer, which led to his appointment as the team leader for the switch disconnect engineering team.
After 24 years with Eaton, Alistair finds himself now at the heart of C&D as our new Technical Director, dedicating his efforts to enhance the diversity of skills and knowledge of the engineering team. As he collaborates with C&D, he strives to continue and increase upon the successes of previous years, ushering in new accomplishments and innovations.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Alistair lives in Loughborough with his wife and son, where he passionately supports Leicester City football. His creativity knows no bounds, encompassing film, television, music, painting, guitar and piano playing, DIY projects, and even the pursuit of learning to speak Hungarian.
